QROPS List – April 24, 2017

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has published yet another list of Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS) for April.

Without any official announcement, the list was published on April 24, with five pensions added to the list published only days before on April 18.

The inclusion of the handful of extra pensions took the number of QROPS pensions available worldwide from 932 to 937.

Two were added for Germany and one each for the Isle of Man, Jersey and Malta.

None were delisted.

410 pensions delisted

“Sometimes the list is updated at short notice to temporarily remove schemes while reviews are carried out, for example, where fraudulent activity is suspected,” says HMRC.

In the past, lists have also been revised at short notice due to listing errors by HMRC.

HMRC has not commented why the five schemes were not included in the earlier list.

HMRC says the QROPS list is published on the first and 15th of each month, but in April lists have been released on April 6, 18 and 24.

The April 18 list saw 410 pensions delisted for failing to comply with new QROPS rules, along with eight financial centres.

The next HMRC QROPS List is due on May 1, 2017.
