HM Revenue & Customs has published an unexpected list of Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS).
The lists are generally published on the HMRC web site fortnightly – with the next scheduled for December 1, 2013.
However, an intermediate list was published on November 22, 2013, just a week after the previous list.
The total number of QROPS reached a new record high of 3,230 – and net increase of 13 from the list published on November 15, 2013 and a net increase of 448 QROPS since November 1, 2012.
The list shows no major changes – 16 new schemes joined the list while three were suspended.
No financial jurisdictions were added or removed.
New QROPS
The new schemes were in –
- Australia – 10
- Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the Isle of Man and Gibraltar – 1 each
The suspensions were:
- Ireland – 2
- New Zealand – 1
HMRC refuses to comment about suspensions – but QROPS leave the list periodically for a number of reasons. They include single member schemes closing, administration issues with HMRC and the QROPS deciding to close to new business
