The latest HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Scheme (QROPS) List showed a big uptick in the number of schemes on the market.
The latest list showed 832 QROPS are available from 40 financial centres worldwide – up from 757 from 38 centres on the last list posted on August 3, 2015.
The new financial centres are Hungary and Sri Lanka, both with one QROPS listed each.
Both were on the list until June 1, 2015, when HMRC suspended more than 3,000 QROPS pensions for failing the pension age test. The schemes that were delisted allowed savers to withdraw pension benefits before they were aged 55 years old.
Altogether, 75 new QROPS are included on the new list – 56 from Guernsey QROPS ; six from Ireland, four from The Netherlands and one each from Denmark, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Hungary, the Isle of Man, Italy, Spain and Sri Lanka.
No QROPS or financial centres were delisted.
The next list from HMRC is due on September 1, 2015.
