Half the top 20 cities to live voted by expats are in the USA and Canada.
Both countries take 10 of the slots in the table – with Raleigh, North Carolina, taking the most votes.
But the overall winner was Canberra, the capital of Australia, followed by Eindhoven, in the Netherlands.
The data comes from expat ranking web site Numbeo, which continuously updates tables for expat lifestyle factors such as quality of life, property prices and health care.
Australia took four of the top 20 places, leaving just six for cities outside of Australia and North America, which were all in Europe.
Zero score for Caracas
Cities in Asia, Africa and South America failed to penetrate the top 50 and are clearly not favourites with expats.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, was the highest placed city (62) outside of North America, Australia and Europe, followed by neighbouring Abu Dhabi (67).
Caracas, Venezuela was bottom of the table – taking 226thplace – scoring zero due to raging inflation of around 1,000,000%.
Lagos, Nigeria (225) and Dhaka, Bangladesh (224) took the other bottom places. Closely followed by Beijing, China (223).
Skopje, Macedonia (190) was the lowest placed European city, Detroit (145) scored the least in North America and Melbourne (36) for Australia.
