QROPS List – January 3, 2017

Qualifying Recognised Overseas Pension Schemes (QROPS) have started 2017 with a bang as the list of offshore pensions increased by 21 over the traditionally quiet holidays.

In the first official QROPS List of the year published by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the number of QROPS worldwide is 1264 – up 321 from pensions at the start of last year, rising from 1,243 listed on December 15.

Australia is the leading QROPS jurisdiction by number of pensions – with eight opening over the seasonal break to take the tally to 377.

8 finance centres add QROPS

Three pensions each were added by Guernsey and the Isle of Man. Guernsey now has 148 QROPS and the Isle of Man 247.

Two were added to the list for Ireland, while Austria, Jersey, Malta, the Netherlands and New Zealand all increased their number of QROPS by one.

HMRC publishes an updated list of QROPS every fortnight. The next QROPS List is due on January 15, 2017.
