Almost 4,000 financial institutions signed up to the US Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act in March.

FATCA demands the financial institutions tell the IRS about accounts or investments held by US taxpayers overseas.

So far, 281,242 organisations have agreed to report their American clients to the IRS – 3,969 more than a month ago.

The next FATCA list is scheduled for May 1, 2017.
